The Dandenongs

If you have not visited the Dandenong Ranges, put it at the top of your to do list!
offering a unique range of Animals and Wildlife, Arts and Crafts, Parks and Gardens and not to mention its Tranquil surrounds around every corner.
some of the dandenong ranges most popular destinations are right on our door step.

With Puffing Billy a 5 Minute walk from our office it is a must see when visiting the area, the experience is unforgettable, the surrounds are unimaginable and the views are unbelievable

This Century old Steam Train is still running on its original mountain track from Belgrave to Gembrook in the scenic Dandenong Ranges. Puffing Billy is a genuine relic of our more leisurely days. An historic steam train still running regularly in the mountain district it was built to serve at the turn of the century. The Railway is the major survivor of four experimental lines used to develop rural areas in the early 1900s. Puffing Billy is now a major tourist attraction, its operation depending on hundreds of dedicated volunteers. On a clear day, extensive views to Port Phillip Bay, Arthurs Seat and Westernport may be seen to the right of the train. Also on the right and below is the Cardinia Reservoir, which provides water to the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

1,000 Steps in Ferntree Gully also makes a magnificent day out with the family.

Created in the early 1900's the thousand steps trail was originally made from the trunks of tree ferns laid along the wetter parts of the track to make the climb a little easier, they were placed by wooden palings before the more permanent concrete steps were installed in 1950.

March your way up the steep, 1,000 step-climb of the Kokoda Walk and experience a sense of the exhaustion felt by the Australian soldiers following the Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea in World War II.
Observe the plaques depicting the lives of those who fought and died on the trail during the Kokoda campaign in 1942.
Along the way see tree ferns, and manna gum and Blackwood towards the top of the hill. This walk is not recommended for those with medical conditions that restrict physical activity

Sky High, Mount Dandenong is a great place to take friends and family for a fun filled day of exploring and breathtaking views over the whole of Melbourne.

From the left, the Mornington Peninsular, across Port Phillip Bay and onto the You Yangs and start of the Great Dividing Range. On a clear day the view is simply breathtaking.
To really take advantage of such a fantastic view, check out the weather details for the day that you intend to visit Sky High. Try to have as clear a day as possible with as little smog around and then you will be able to look out over the magnificent City of Melbourne and it's beautiful surrounds.
